Individualized Exercise Regimen

Whether you’ve undergone surgery, are recovering from or coping with an illness, or bouncing back from an injury, you want to reclaim your life as quickly as possible. At Fairmont Care, that is our goal, too.

Our skilled professionals work individually with each patient and his or her prescribing physician to create a customized treatment plan. A full range of therapies, a spacious facility filled with state-of-the-art equipment, and a supportive environment all contribute to helping you improve functional mobility, rebuild strength, and get back to your daily activities as much as possible.

Before you begin one of our programs, you will undergo a physical exam and an exercise evaluation to assess your functional work capacity. We then create a treatment plan targeted to your needs, goals, and capabilities. Your plan is carefully monitored by your treatment team, which includes the physiatrist and a physical therapist, and will be reevaluated on an ongoing basis. As you experience the satisfaction of enhancing your abilities, your exercise regimen will become progressively more challenging and rewarding.

Supported Ambulation System (S.A.S.)

When your focus is getting stronger and retaining gait and balance, we’re with you step by step.

Our 200 linear foot safety lift – an overhead track and harness system – is used over ground stairs, parallel bars or equipment to help patients with mobility and balance issues. Eliminating fears of falling will help you move forward in reaching your key goals: improving muscle tone, increasing coordination and agility, and building greater balance.

Our therapists control how much weight you bear (while adhering to your prescribing physician’s directives) to eliminate delays due to weight-bearing restrictions. As a result, you can more successfully focus on your rehabilitation tasks and reclaim your life that much faster.

The S.A.S. may be ideal for patients who are recovering from:

  • The aftermath of a stroke
  • An ankle or knee fracture
  • Neurological injury or surgery
  • Lack of confidence following an injury or prolonged illness
  • Dementia
  • Generalized weakness

Advanced Therapy Technologies

Physical therapies at Fairmont Care are always evolving and advancing. We’re on top of the latest innovations to help shorten healing time, increase comfort level, and improve the overall standard of care.

For instance, Omni VR, the world’s first virtual rehabilitation system designed specifically for the needs of older patients, beckons you to enter a computer-generated therapy world that guides you through interactive rehabilitation exercises and activities to strength upper and lower body extremities. You’ll expand your physical capabilities and have fun at the same time.

Electrotherapy closely replicates your body’s healthy muscle and nerve firings to increase circulation, relieve stiffness, and re-educate your muscles to work seamlessly again following trauma, injury, or surgery.

And electrical stimulation (e-stim) is a safe, painless, and non-invasive therapeutic option for swallowing impairment, an issue sometimes found after a hospital stay. E-stims help your body heal by augmenting weakened muscle contractions to stimulate the flow of nutrition and hydration.
