Dear Responsible Party:

As discussed in our previous letter, we are writing with an update to the COVID-19 precautions we are taking. Today Dr, Tedros Adhahnom Ghebreyesus, the Director General of the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) declared this outbreak a pandemic.

Because the elderly are at high risk, we must take very serious measures to protect them. At this time, it has been strongly advised that we suspend all medically unnecessary visits and the facility has elected to restrict all visitors until further notice. Many surrounding facilities have also implemented these unprecedented measures in order to keep everyone safe.

During this time, our team will be happy to assist in remote/virtual visits, via phone calls, FaceTime/Skype. Please feel free to reach out to our Activity Director, Betty Terefe, to schedule a video call with your loved one.

We are continuing to monitor residents and patients each shift for fevers or respiratory symptoms. Any residents with fevers or acute respiratory symptoms will be restricted to their room until further evaluation from their physician.

We have also begun monitoring all staff each shift for fevers or respiratory symptoms. Any staff members with fevers or acute respiratory symptoms will be sent home.

We will continue to review IDPH, CDC and CMS guidelines and recommendations and inform you as necessary.

The health, safety and well-being of our residents, patients and employees are our highest priorities at Fairmont Care. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me or our Director of Nursing, Marie Descorbeth.

Sincerely,
Cecilia Ancona
